The electric power steering system becomes the development direction of the automobile steering system.
Electric Park Brake (EPB) Gearbox
The ZHAOWEI micro-drive system can be used with electric park brakes (EPB), which allows for a short-time response and outputs high torque with a small size
Electric park brakes are a technology that integrates temporary braking during driving and long-term braking after parking and through electronic control. It’s similar to the way electronic handbrakes are used – it’s generally a one-button operation. The electronic handbrake can be activated regardless of what conditions the vehicle is in. If it is pressed by mistake during movement, the electronic handbrake function will be turned off immediately because the throttle is still in the working position. If pressed during emergency braking, most electronic handbrake systems will additionally provide a stronger braking force to assist, and some models have the functions of electronic braking force distribution and speed limit stop.
EPB have three important parts: an electronic brake module, a control motor, and an electric switch in the cabin. When the driver operates the switch, it sends a command to the electronic brake module which senses that parking brakes need to be used. Then, the module commands the control motor installed in the brake calipers to operate. Brake pads then are forced on the disc thereby restricting the movement of wheels.
The EPB control motors installed on the left and right brake calipers of the rear wheel both consist of DC motors and micro gearboxes. The gearbox developed by ZHAOWEI has a compact structure, small size, and large torque, and can change the direction of the DC motor’s driving force. The gearbox for EPB can operate quickly under situations with high torque and a high current.
ZHAOWEI has modified the gear and tooth profile of the electric park brakes, which can improve the effectiveness and manufacturing accuracy of the gearbox under high-frequency vibration.
The EPB with micro gearboxes can allow vehicles to park stably even on slopes. The system also has thermal compensation, which means that if the vehicle is forced to park, the rear brake disc will have a gap between the friction plate due to the temperature drop, and the motor will start automatically. This will drive the compaction nut to compensate for the gap caused by the temperature drop to ensure parking is smooth.
The gearbox for EPB mentioned above has been developed for specific customers. It can also be customized according to customer requirements.
In addition to EPB, we also provide solutions for automotive charging plug actuator, automotive damper actuator, automotive gauge, EPS, ABS, automotive tailgate support rod, automotive tailgate latch lock, automotive window, foldable rearview mirror and automotive lifting speaker.
