Can A Stepper Motor be Equipped with a Planetary Gearbox?
A stepper motor equipped with a planetary gearbox is known as a stepper planetary motor. 1.Depending on the required torque, and if it’s beyond what a motor can provide, then a reducer or gearbox should be added to increase torque.
2.A stepper motor is an open-loop control element that converts electrical pulse signals into angular or linear displacement. In the case of non-overload, the motor speed and stop position depend on the frequency and pulse number of the pulse signal, and aren’t affected by load changes. After the stepper driver receives the pulse signal, it drives the stepper motor to rotate at a fixed angle, also known as "step angle". Its rotation gradually moves at a fixed angle. The angular displacement can be controlled by controlling the number of pulses, so as to achieve precise positioning. The speed and acceleration of the motor rotation can simultaneously be controlled by the pulse frequency, allowing for speed adjustment.
3.The principle of the planetary gearbox is a power transmission mechanism, which uses a gear speed converter to reduce the number of revolutions of the motor to the required number of revolutions and obtain larger torque. The gear with fewer teeth on the drive shaft of the planetary gearheads meshes with the large gear on the output shaft, reducing speed. Ordinary reducers also have several pairs of gears meshing with the same principle to achieve the ideal deceleration effect. The gear ratio of the large and small gears is the transmission ratio. Planetary gearboxes are widely used in servo motor, stepper motor, DC motor, and other transmission systems due to their compact size, high transmission efficiency, wide deceleration range, and high precision. Its function is to reduce speed, increase torque, and reduce load/motor inertia ratio under the premise of precise transmission.
